Sue Clanton has a real gift for painting wonderful water colors that capture the
light and essence of her subject matter. Sue was well into her adult years before
she began painting seriously. She had always painted but had little training and
never thought she could be any good. She then realized it didn't matter much
what others thought, so she joined an art league and dubbed herself an "artist"
and that's when things took off!
She began taking classes and workshops and traveling extensively with her
husband to gather subject matter. She takes a photo first then studies it and
spends hours sketching. She then begins to paint. Each of her paintings takes
between 80 and 100 hours to complete.
Sue continues to travel and paint and is active in the Discover Art League of
Discovery Bay organizing judged art shows and giving lessons. Sue resides with
her husband John in their home on the waters of Discovery Bay.
